June 2002 - Technical Workshop

Subject: HTML 101
Place: Cape Breton Regional Library
Instructor: Gayle Bird

Gayle had a full class for the workshop.

>From Gayle:

The Handout: Don't forget, a colour-coded version of that handout is at www.nightingayle.com/tips/digitaleve.html .. AND, it's not just for people at the workshop! Everyone else, if you couldn't make it, or if you're simply curious, feel free to go check it out; don't worry about copyrights or anything. Spread it around.

Almost everything I covered in class is on that handout - it should give you everything you need to start your first website. It does assume you can use an operating system like Windows or the Mac OS, a browser like Explorer and
Netscape, and Notepad (SimpleText is the Mac equivalent, I hear), including opening and saving files.

http://glassdog.com/ - Design on the web. Read it. Learn it. Love it. Live it.

http://werbach.com/barebones/ - The Barebones Guide to HTML. Beautiful. Simple list of all tags known to woman, and what they do.

May 2002 - Meet and Greet

Date: May 1, 2002
Place: Bunkers, Sydney

DigitalEve Cape Breton's first Meet and Greet was a smash success, doubling the first meeting of April 11, with 22 members attending. While kibbutzing and getting to know each other was definitely the point of the evening's agenda (and everyone sure did that), members were also anxious to get down to the business of planning and collaborating. Energy was high and, as usual for any Cape Breton gathering, the atmosphere was very welcoming. A big thanks goes out to Bunkers' staff for being so accommodating.

April 2002 - DigitalEve Cape Breton Launch

Date: April 11, 2002
Place: Cape Breton Regional Library, Sydney

DigitalEve Cape Breton's launch saw an enthusiastic group of 11 women attending. Plans for an upcoming Meet and Greet, as well as a seminar quickly got underway. Thanks to the Cape Breton Regional Library for the use of their Program Room.
