Sherri created Webgurl www.webgurl.ca, a web development company, in 1999 after learning HTML and Flash from books and tutorials. She soon realized that her self-taught knowledge would not be enough to stay competitive nor would it allow her to work on those challenging projects she was craving, so she headed back to school. In 2001 Sherri graduated first in her class receiving an honours diploma in the Internet Programmer program at CompuCollege as well as the top programmer award and a certificate for outstanding leadership among her peers. Since that time Webgurl has been making her mark on the web. Working on projects across a broad spectrum, including non-profit, education, corporate, television and entertainment. Primarily sought after to develop web applications or complex data-driven websites, she frequently gets to sink her teeth into a flash based game or prototype a cutting-edge product or idea. Sherri has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and loves to share what she knows, and she is very eager to guide the CODE team this year. “I’m very excited to be the new CODE Director. This project offers such a great service to the community, not only by helping non-profits in need of a web presence, but by building confidence and valuable skills in its less experienced team members.” |
